Women and Land: Localizing the 2030 Agenda

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the International Land Coalition (ILC), the Huairou Commission, Landesa and Oxfam will host this event on the sidelines of the 60th Session of the Convention on the Status of Women (CSW 60). The event aims to catalyze action to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including by highlighting the importance of women's land rights in the context of sustainable development, sharing approaches to promote the meaningful participation of women in decision-making, and discussing best practices for innovative financial mechanisms to ensure that resources reach rural women and communities. The event will feature a panel discussion on rural women's roles in localizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Speakers, including representatives from rural organizations, policymakers and grassroots leaders, will discuss policy approaches, measures and tools to secure land rights for women and share experiences in mobilizing rural women to contribute to achieving the SDGs, with examples from Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, and Tanzania.
