Validation Workshop for the ECOWAS Policy for Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Department of Social Affairs and Gender and ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Efficiency (ECREEE) are organizing this event to review, improve and validate the ECOWAS policy for Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access in the context of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative and Beijing Platform for Action. The event will feature a technical session to present and review the policy; a learning and experience exchange session on operationalizing the policy; and presentations on gender mainstreaming and energy access in ECOWAS member States. Intended outputs include an endorsed and validated draft of the policy; validated situation analysis report; and preliminary draft implementation strategy. Participants will include energy and gender experts from the Ministries of Energy in the ECOWAS region, civil society organizations (CSOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academia and research institutions, development partners, and representatives of other relevant stakeholder institutions. The event is being organized in partnership with the Government of Senegal, African Development Bank (AfDB) and National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
