UNU Special Symposium: Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The UN University (UNU) is organizing a symposium on ‘Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development' as part of a series of events celebrating 40 years of UNU academic work, and will provide an opportunity for scholars, policymakers, practitioners and the public to discuss issues of sustainable development following the UN Sustainable Development Summit and in the run-up to the Paris Climate Change Conference. The symposium will explore how stakeholders can effectively collaborate, with a particular emphasis on the role of scientific knowledge and education, as well as new partnerships between the public and private sectors. Speakers at the event will include: Johan Rockstrom, Executive Director, Stockholm Resilience Centre; Naoko Ishii, CEO and Chairperson, Global Environment Facility (GEF); Hironori Hamanaka, Chair, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies; Miki Sugimura, Sophia University; and Masayo Hasegawa, Toyota Motor Corporation.
