The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will host a symposium to celebrate Africa Industrialization Day, on the theme 'Inclusive and sustainable industrial development: African agro industry for food security.' UNIDO notes that the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government declared 2014 the Year of Agriculture and Food Security, and 2014 also marks the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), which advocates for agriculture and food security to be at the center of the development agenda at all levels.
The UNIDO symposium will allow experts to discuss issues related to agriculture and food security in line with the Organization’s new mandate that focuses on inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID).
