UNGA High-level Meeting on Global Plan of Action against Trafficking in Persons

In January 2017, UNGA President Peter Thomson appointed Catherine Boura, Permanent Representative of Greece, and Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, Permanent Representative of Qatar, as co-facilitators to consult with Member States on the preparations for this high-level meeting. The resulting modalities resolution (A/RES/71/287), adopted on 4 May 2017, sets the date for 27-28 September 2017.

In accordance with GA resolution 71/287 on the “Modalities, format and organization of the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the appraisal of the United Nations Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons”, a High-Level Meeting of the plenary of the General Assembly will be convened to appraise progress achieved in the implementation of the Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons (Resolution 64/293), in order to assess achievements, gaps and challenges, including in the implementation of the relevant legal instruments.
