The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is hosting this meeting to explore the challenges that climate change is posing and will pose to education systems in the Arab region. Given the weather extremes that affect Arab countries, especially with the onset of climate change, UNESCO envisions a robust role for education in adaptation and mitigation. Recommendations formulated at the meeting will inform UNESCO's work in the region under its Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development.
