UNEP Science-Policy Forum

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) presenting this two-day event in the lead-up to the Second UN Environment Assembly meeting (UNEA-2), bringing together policy-makers and advisors; the scientific and research community including citizen scientists; representatives of Member States; media and communication specialists; and Major Groups and Stakeholders engaged in supporting the delivery of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

A high-level panel will discuss challenges and opportunities at the science-policy interface to deliver on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Parallel sessions will take place on two tracks, on the topics of: sustainable consumption and production (SCP); resource efficiency; the water-food-energy nexus; forestry, mining and extractives; oceans, coastal areas and marine cosystems; natural resources; and oceans, coastal areas and marine ecosystems; and air quality, sand and dust storms.

UNEP will present highlights from its sixth Global Environment Outlook (GEO-6), and other reports. UNEP will present a summary of the forum discussions to the Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum taking place from 21-22 May, and to UNEA-2, which takes place from 23-27 May 2016.

The forum is organised with partners, including the UN University, Future Earth, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS).
