UNEP Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace MOOC

The second iteration of the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) Massive Open Online Course on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace is taking place beginning on 10 February 2019.

The free, eight-week course introduces the multiple roles that natural resources, the environment and climate change play in the onset, escalation, resolution of, and recovery from violent conflicts. The course also explores the positive environmental peacebuilding opportunities offered by shared natural resources, with reference to supporting livelihoods, economic recovery and confidence building.

Participants will have the chance to explore interactive story maps by MapX, and to engage directly with experts and practitioners in addressing natural resource governance challenges in specific countries.

The course is in English, with video transcripts in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Mandarin Chinese. A two-minute trailer for the MOOC is available here.
