This regional consultation meeting follows up on decisions taken at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) to strengthen multi-stakeholder dialogue and participation in the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). Participants will discuss mechanisms for stakeholder engagement in the governance of UNEP, its global and regional decision making processes, and programme implementation. The consultation also will address environmental sustainability in the post-2015 development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The meeting is expected to produce a statement that will serve as the regional input to the 2014 Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum and the UN Environment Assembly.
