This seminar will be held on World Forest Day as part of Regional Forest Information Week. Organized by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the seminar is titled “How successful is Sustainable Forest Management in the UNECE Region? State of forests and forest management in the UNECE region in the context of current needs and challenges.” Sessions will consider: picture of the present and the past: overview of 20 years of sustainable forest management (SFM), including forest biodiversity; wood resources – status, trends and challenges; and criteria and indicators: how useful are they for SFM assessment?
