UNEA Media Roundtable on SWITCH to Green

The UN Environment Programme and the EU, in partnership with government institutions, the private sector and other stakeholders, are implementing an initiative called ‘SWITCH to Green’ to support countries in making the transition to an inclusive green economy based on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) practices.

In 34 countries, SWITCH to Green encompasses green economy programmes in Asia (SWITCH Asia); in Africa (SWITCH Africa Green) and in the Mediterranean (SWITCHMed), as well as in the European Union (EU4Environment, formerly EaP GREEN).

In parallel to the fourth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4), this roundtable will bring the various 'SWITCH to Green' programmes together, enabling stakeholders from partner countries to: share their experiences; encourage cross-regional learning to scale up and replicate good practices; highlight examples of the transition to a green economy across Africa, Asia and the Mediterranean; share success stories with journalists to generate media coverage on the SWITCH Programmes; and complement the SWITCH project beneficiaries’ exhibition at the Sustainable Innovative Expo. High-level representatives of UNEP and the EU will also join the roundtable, the dialogue for which will encourage the global scale up of green entrepreneurship efforts as well as inspire national level policy making and implementation.
