UNEA-6 Cities and Regions Summit

The sixth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) will host a Cities and Regions Summit on the margins of UNEA-6. The Summit will bring together mayors and other representatives from cities and regions worldwide to engage in a collaborative dialogue on biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution.

The 2024 Summit is the third edition of the Summit and will contribute to deliberations at UNEA-6. The Summit will also showcase concrete examples of cities and regions supporting their national governments in achieving the SDGs and multilateral environmental agreements’ (MEAs) goals.

The Summit will feature two thematic sessions focused on: strengthening multi-level governance to achieve the SDGs and MEAs’ goals; and funding and financing to accelerate local climate and environmental actions.

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP), UN-Habitat, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), UrbanShift, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and C40 Cities will organize the event with the support of partners.
