UNDP Briefing on Forest Conservation and Restoration for Limiting Warming to below 2°C and Achieving Global Carbon Neutrality

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) is bringing together UNDP Administrator Helen Clark, actor and activist Alec Baldwin, Peruvian indigenous Ashaninka leader Diana Rios, Indonesian indigenous Dayak leader Mina Setra, Center for Global Development Senior Fellow Frances Seymour, non-profit executive and philanthropist Alexander Soros, and Ford Foundation President Darren Walker for an event leading up to the 22 April Paris Agreement Signing Ceremony. The event will focus on the critical role of forests in meeting the international community's climate change objectives, particularly how secure rights to indigenous and community-held land can prevent deforestation. During the event, new research regarding the status of land rights in relation to country climate change commitments will be presented.
