The Asian and Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the UNCSD, in preparation for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), will be hosted by the Government of the Republic of Korea and organized by ESCAP in collaboration with UNEP and the Asian Development Bank. In addition to the formal regional preparatory meeting, an event on “Capacity building on Rio+20 and effective engagement with UNCSD,” organized by DESA, also will take place on 19-20 October; and a Major Groups and Stakeholders Asia Pacific Meeting titled, “The Road to Rio 2012: Charting Our Path” will take place from 17-18 October, organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and ESCAP, in Seoul. The meeting will be preceded by a one-day training, on 16 October 2011, offered by the UNCSD Secretariat, ESCAP, and Stakeholder Forum, for regional Major Groups and other partners, to build capacity to engage with the Rio+20 process.
