Transforming the World: Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and NCDs Control

This high-level event will celebrate the inclusion of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the post-2015 development agenda and discuss how countries can implement the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target on reducing premature mortality from NCDs. The World Health Organization (WHO) will launch the NCD Progress Monitor 2015, which provides a progress report on the implementation of promises made by global leaders at the first and second UN High-level meeting on NCDs in 2011 and 2014. Participants also will discuss progress on the SDG target on NCDs in preparation for the third UN High-level meeting on NCDs, which will take place in 2018. WHO and the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN are co-hosting the meeting, which is convening on the sidelines of the UN summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda.
