Towards a Sustainable Future for All Women and Girls: Combatting Poverty and Promoting Gender Equality: A Data and Policy Perspective

UN Women will convene an event to contribute ideas and expert knowledge to the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Second Committee (Economic and Financial), which is considering its biennial sub-item on ‘Women in development’ during the UNGA's 72nd session.

UN Women will present findings from a joint research effort with the World Bank, which explored how existing data can be used in innovative ways to expand knowledge and understanding of the gender dimensions of poverty. This presentation will be followed by a discussion on relevant policy responses, including presentations from leading researchers and policy experts on innovative policy solutions that have had an impact on reducing poverty rates and contributed substantively to gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.
