An ad hoc open‑ended working group to consider a technical and evidence-based report that identifies and assesses possible gaps in international environmental law and environment-related instruments with a view to strengthening their implementation, established by UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution 72/272 of 10 May 2018, will convene for its organizational session. The working group is co-chaired by the Permanent Representatives of Portugal and Lebanon to the UN.

This organizational session will be followed by a series of substantive meetings in Nairobi, Kenya. The Group will work towards presenting recommendations to the UNGA during the first half of 2019.
