Thirteenth Session of the Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (CGRFA 13)

Held under the auspices of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), this meeting will will focus on plant and aquatic genetic resources, the application and integration of biotechnologies in the conservation and utilization of genetic resources, as well as on climate change and genetic resources for food and agriculture. Furthermore, the Commission will consider policies and arrangements for access and benefit-sharing (ABS) for genetic resources for food and agriculture, including relevant aspects of the Nagoya Protocol on ABS, adopted at the tenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Other agenda items include: the updated Global Plan of Action for the Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture; review of cooperation with the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGR) and the CBD; review of the information base for aquatic genetic resources and key issues for the State of the World’s Aquatic Genetic Resources; and review of progress in other areas of the CGRFA’s Multi-Year Programme of Work (MYPOW), including Forest genetic resources and animal genetic resources and overall MYPOW implementation and review.
