The event will bring together senior transport officials and ministers from member states of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to: discuss a regional action plan on transport development for 2017-2021; assess the implementation of the Regional Action Programme for Transport Development in Asia and the Pacific, phase II (2012-2016); and deliberate on a ministerial declaration to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into transport policy in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference will include a senior officials segment, from 5-7 December, and a ministerial segment, from 8-9 December. The conference will be held back-to-back with the annual Transport Week of the Russian Federation. The tenth anniversary of the International Forum and Exhibition 'Transport of Russia' will be held from 26 November to 2 December. On the sidelines of the conference, representatives from the Russian Federation and from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will meet to celebrate ten years of transport cooperation. In addition, two side events will be held on ‘Transport connectivity and SDGs: Perspectives from East and North-East Asia’ and ‘Connecting Central Asia with South and South West Asia’. The event is being organized by ESCAP in conjunction with the Russian Ministry of Transportation.
