20-23 July 2015 Nukualofa, Tongatapu, Tonga
Third Meeting of the Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC-3)

PMC-3 is convening under the theme, 'Sustainable Weather and Climate Services for a Resilient Pacific,' and will bring together PMC members, development partners, the Council of the Regional Organisations in the Pacific (CROP), collaborating organizations and institutions. PMC-3 will seek to: facilitate coordination and networking among all stakeholders; facilitate discussions on issues related to advancing meteorological and hydrological services in the Pacific; and provide an opportunity to share experiences/initiatives and review progress of the Pacific Island Meteorological Strategy (PIMS) 2012-2021. Expected outcomes include strengthened integration and coordination with development partners, and guidance on further implementation of the PIMS 2012-2021 and other relevant meteorological programmes and strategies. PMC-3, which the Government of Tonga is hosting, will be held back-to-back with the first Pacific Ministerial Meeting on Meteorology (PMMM), which will bring together Cabinet Ministers responsible for meteorology and senior officials in the Pacific Islands and Territories to discuss, promote and explore avenues for resources for weather and climate services in order to contribute more effectively to the sustainable development needs of the Pacific Island Countries. Both meetings are the result of partnerships between the Government of Tonga, the Government of Finland through its partnership with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) under the Finnish-Pacific (FINPAC) Project, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
