Third Meeting of IAEG-SDGs

The third meeting of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on the Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs) will take place in Mexico City, Mexico. The meeting is one of two meetings the IAEG-SDGs plans to hold in 2016 to continue its work on the development and establishment of a global indicator framework. The meeting objectives are to: agree on a global reporting mechanism; establish a tier system for the indicators and a work plan for the further development of tier III indicators; establish procedures for the methodological review of indicators, including approval mechanisms of needed revisions; review the data availability for tier I and II indicators and develop a plan for increasing data coverage; develop further guidance on data disaggregation; and continue the discussion on interlinkages among targets and goals and the use of multi-purpose indicators. The meeting will be hosted jointly by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. Civil society will be represented at the meeting through approximately 50 representatives selected through a nomination and Steering Committee process. The deadline to apply to attend is 21 February 2016.
