The Third High-level International Conference on the International Decade for Action 2018-2028 (Third Dushanbe Water Action Decade Conference) will focus on the theme, ‘Water for Sustainable Development’. The Conference will promote implementation of the International Water Decade of Action, including advancing the outcomes of the UN Water Conference 2023 and focusing on implementation of the Water Action Agenda.

The Government of Tajikistan is hosting the Conference in cooperation with the UN and other partners, as part of the Dushanbe Water Process. The Conference will bring together UN Member States, UN entities, international and regional organizations, basin authorities, civil society, and the private sector to continue uniting the world around water.

The Conference is expected to support implementation of the voluntary commitments registered in the Water Action Agenda and inspire new commitments to accelerate actions and partnerships to achieve water-related goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UN 2023 Water Conference concluded with approximately 700 voluntary commitments and pledges from governments and stakeholders, an announcement that a UN Special Envoy for Water would be established, and renewed political momentum to drive progress towards SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation).
