Third Asian and Pacific Energy Forum

The Third Asian and Pacific Energy Forum (APEF3) will bring together energy sector leaders, policymakers, and experts to address critical energy challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, including energy consumption, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and energy affordability and security. The Forum aims to discuss and identify sustainable solutions for a cleaner, more resilient, and interconnected energy future.

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Ministry of Energy of the Government of Thailand are co-hosting the event. Forum participants will review progress towards SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) and in implementing the Regional Road Map on Power Systems Connectivity. The event is convening as part of the Asia-Pacific Energy Week.

The Asian and Pacific Energy Forum is a ministerial-level platform for promoting regional cooperation for enhanced energy security and the sustainable use of energy in Asia and the Pacific. The first Asian and Pacific Energy Forum, which convened at the ministerial level in Vladivostok, Russian Federation, in May 2013, reviewed progress in addressing energy security challenges and discussed options for enhancing energy security and working towards sustainable development. The second Asian and Pacific Energy Forum convened in Thailand in 2018 and reviewed progress in addressing energy security challenges, assessed the outlook for energy security based on scenarios, and discussed policy options for keeping the region on track towards SDG 7.
