Thematic Consultation on Energy with Partners from Mexico, Central & South America and the Caribbean

Organized and hosted by the Government of Mexico in collaboration with the UN system, this consultation, titled “Post-2015 Development Agenda and the Energy Future We Want for All,” is a part of a series of regional meetings to discuss links between energy and the post-2015 development framework. It aims to facilitate dialogue with stakeholders from Latin America and the Caribbean region. The meeting will focus on the key questions of: why energy matters for the post-2015 agenda; what are the challenges/opportunities in this regard; and how energy should be effectively integrated into the post-2015 agenda? A range of issues related to energy as a part of sustainable development will be considered. In particular, the meeting focus on the four key topics of: promoting universal energy access; increasing energy efficiency; increasing the use of renewable energy; and the energy-sustainable development nexus (including cross-cutting issues such as water, food security, climate change, and gender inequalities).
