The High Seas: What’s at Stake?

This event (La Haute Mer, Quels Enjeux?/ The High Seas: What’s at Stake?) will convene three months before negotiations of an international instrument for the conservation and sustainable use of high seas biodiversity are set to begin at UN Headquarters in NY, US.

The event will have three round-tables focused on: the high seas and why we must act now; what obstacles must be removed; and what can we expect from negotiations in New York.

The event is organized jointly by:

  • The High Seas Alliance,
  • Oceanographic Institute, Albert I Foundation, Prince of Monaco,
  • The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation,
  • Tara Foundation,
  • Institute on Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) and
  • Nausicaá.

Support is provided by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Pew Charitable Trusts.
