The technical examination process on adaptation (TEP-A) was established at the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the UNFCCC as part of pre-2020 enhanced action. The TEP-A seeks to identify concrete opportunities for strengthening resilience, reducing vulnerabilities, and increasing the understanding and implementation of adaptation actions.

The process, organized by the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), is conducted by the UNFCCC Adaptation Committee. Each year topics of particular relevance to Parties and non-Party stakeholders are addressed. The topic for the 2019 TEP-A is ‘Adaptation Finance, Including the Private Sector’.

A Technical Expert Meeting on Adaptation (TEM-A) will take place in conjunction with the 2019 Bonn Climate Change Conference.
