France and Germany will host a Summit on a New Financial Pact in Paris, France, from 22-23 June 2023.
France and Germany announced their plans for the Summit in a January 2023 French-German Declaration, signed on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty. In the Declaration, the two countries commit to strengthen the EU and to intensify efforts, together with their partners, to prepare Europe for a tomorrow that is more resilient, more sustainable, and more capable to act independently in line with the Versailles Declaration of March 2022. The Declaration outlines areas in which France and Germany intend to strengthen ties, including a strong European foreign and security policy, a strengthening of European defense, strong industrial, technological, and digital policy, economic strength, energy security, transition to a green economy, and consolidation of the European democratic mode.
