South and South-West Asia Forum on Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals

To implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, governments from the Asia-Pacific region established the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) as the main forum for follow up and review at the regional level. The APFSD provides a platform for in-depth discussion on ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies,’ the 2018 theme of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), and builds capacity for implementation through the sharing of experiences and perspectives of multiple stakeholders.

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Secretariat is organizing sub-regional expert meetings to advance implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the SDGs that will be focused on during HLPF 2018: SDGs 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 11 (sustainable cities and communities), 12 (responsible consumption and production), 15 (life on land) and 17 (partnerships for the Goals).

The South Asian Forum on Implementation of the SDGs will bring together experts from government agencies responsible for national coordination on the SDGs, representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector, and regional and sub-regional organizations, as well as other stakeholders involved in SDG implementation at national, regional and global levels.
