SIDS Private Sector Forum

The Government of Samoa, the Samoa Chamber of Commerce, and the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) are convening this event prior to the Third International Conference on SIDS. The Forum aims to facilitate interaction and networking between senior business and government leaders to enhance private sector partnerships for SIDS, in six thematic areas of: agriculture; tourism; renewable energy; fisheries and marine resources; disaster risk reduction (DRR); and connectivity, information and communication technologies (ICTs) and transport. The second day of the Forum is a high-level session that is anticipated to produce an outcome document identifying the private sector's priority actions. The Forum will announce a SIDS Global Business Leaders Network. UN-OHRILLS, with the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UOSSC) will host a ‘matchmaking space' at the Forum to facilitate business relationships in areas such as agriculture, clean energy and water management.
