22-26 August 2023 Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Seventh Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly

The seventh Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly will provide an opportunity for ministers, prominent environmentalists, government officials, business leaders, leaders of GEF Agencies and of the main environmental conventions, as well as civil society representatives and Indigenous Peoples, to discuss governance and financing solutions for global environmental challenges and to forge new partnerships focused on addressing the drivers of ecological strains.

The Assembly will be co-hosted by GEF and the Government of Canada in Vancouver, Canada. The Assembly is the governing body of the GEF that includes representatives of all 185 member countries and is responsible for reviewing and evaluating the GEF’s general policies, operations, and membership. It is also responsible for considering and approving proposed amendments to the Instrument for the Establishment of the Restructured GEF and any other recommendations coming from the GEF Council.

The Assembly will have a full agenda, including high-level roundtables, a civil society organizations (CSO) forum, side events, and opportunities to visit environmental activities close to Vancouver that can serve as learning opportunities.
