Second Yale Conference on Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean

This conference will take place on the theme of 'Addressing Gaps and Working Toward Implementation'. Organized by students in the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, the Conference aims to provide participants with an opportunity to discuss the challenges of and opportunities for successfully implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The discussion will focus on three themes: Climate Change and the Environment – Adaptation, Building Resilience to Climate Change and Reducing Vulnerabilities; Peace as a Tool for Development; and Bridging Gaps and Breaking Down Institutional Silos for Sustainable Development. Speakers will be senior officials in a range of organisations concerned with sustainable development in the Latin American and Caribbean region. These organizations include the UN Development Programme (UNDP), Humboldt Institute Colombia, International Institute for Peace, Organization of American States (OAS), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Caribbean Disaster and Emergency Management Agency. Participation is free and open to all.
