The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are jointly organising this intergovernmental conference with the participation of Heads of State and Government and other UN agencies. The conference will identify public policy priorities at the national and global levels to address under-nutrition, micronutrient deficiencies and obesity. The conference aims to improve coordination among the food, health and agriculture sectors, and is expected to result in a political commitment for action and resource mobilization towards the goal of improved nutrition, contributing to the post-2015 development agenda and the Zero Hunger Challenge. The First International Conference on Nutrition took place in 1992, resulting in a World Declaration and Plan of Action for Nutrition.
