29-31 October 2024 Geneva, Geneve, Switzerland
Second Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health

The second Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health will focus on the theme, ‘Accelerating Action for Clean Air, Clean Energy Access, and Climate Mitigation’. The event will highlight policy solutions for air pollution and lack of energy access and catalyze evidence-based, multi-sectoral actions in cities, countries, and regions.

The World Health Organization (WHO) is organizing the event. The event will bring together ministers of health, ministers of environment, ministers of energy, and officials of national, intergovernmental, and development agencies, health professionals, mayors, local authorities and planners, and representatives of relevant sectors, academia, and civil society.

The conference aims to: share evidence on health risks of air pollution and energy poverty; highlight assessment tools and resources for decision making; showcase climate, gender, health, and equity co-benefits of air pollution and energy action; and harness climate and development finance to tackle air pollution and ensure a just energy transition. It also seeks to leverage health arguments to: drive country cooperation and financial commitments; mobilize and empower health professionals to prescribe clean air for health; and take stock of global progress since the 2015 World Health Assembly (WHA) resolution was passed and the SDGs were adopted.
