Taking place during the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Sustainable Cities Week 2019, the  ‘In Focus: SDG 11’ roundtable will provide a platform for dialogue on the successes and challenges in the implementation of SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and other urban-related SDGs. The event will also provide a platform to: foster cooperation between UN agencies, the private and public sectors, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academia and civil society; brainstorm to create synergies to promote effective implementation of SDG 11; and create joint initiatives and activities to ensure the highest and coordinated impact in implementing SDG 11 and related SDGs.

The roundtable is a follow-up to the review of SDG 11 and related Goals by last year’s Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE Region and the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), and to a 2018 ‘In Focus: SDG 11’ event. The event is organized by the UNECE Committee on Housing and Land Management, and represents a continued effort to review the progress towards achieving SDG 11 and related Goals by 2030.
