The President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is organizing a retreat titled, 'Fulfilling the vision of the 2030 Agenda: Integrated analyses from ECOSOC and its system,' in preparation for the upcoming review by the UN General Assembly (UNGA) of reforms undertaken to ECOSOC as mandated in UNGA resolution 68/1.
The retreat's objectives are to:
- Engage in an open discussion on the contributions of the ECOSOC system to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in keeping with their mandates and responsibilities;
- Share views and ideas on how the ECOSOC system, and the meetings of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) held under its auspices, can respond to emerging global develop challenges; and
- Consider ways to further enhance the results of the Council and its system as a contribution to preparations for the upcoming UNGA review of resolution A/68/1.
