Regional Technical Expert Meeting on Enabling Waste-to-Energy, Industrial Waste Reuse and Prevention Solutions

The UNFCCC, Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will convene a regional technical expert meeting on enabling waste-to-energy, industrial waste reuse and prevention solutions to boost climate action and achieve circular economy, along with the associated triple win: economic, environmental and employment.

By focusing on circular economy, which helps meet overall energy needs and entails greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions, the meeting will contribute to SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy) and SDG 13 (climate action). Circular economy also contributes to SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), SDG 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production) through the creation of job opportunities, closed loops in industries and industrial symbiosis, and recovery of energy from waste.

The event will take place during the Asia Pacific Climate Week in Singapore.
