ECE/UNDG Europe and Central Asia Regional Consultation on Financing for Development

Organized jointly by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Regional UN Development Group for Europe and Central Asia, this regional preparatory consultation will focus on strategies and instruments the UNECE region has to offer to promote resource mobilization for sustainable development and the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda. It will take stock of trends and needs regarding financing sustainable development in the UNECE region. It will also discuss: unlocking private resources for sustainable development; creating conducive international frameworks for resource mobilization; and a renewed global partnership. The consultation will take the form of a multi-stakeholder event, providing an opportunity for inter-active discussions between experts from governments, civil society, the private sector, international organizations and academia. It will be chaired by Ambassador Michael Gerber, Special Envoy for Global Sustainable Development of Switzerland. Other confirmed high-level participants include Amina Mohammed, UN Special Adviser on Post-2015 Development Planning and Wu Hongbo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.

The summary of the discussions will serve as a regional input to the Third International Conference on Financing for Development that will be held in Addis Ababa from 13-16 July 2015.
