The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, will convene the Regional Consultation on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework for Africa.

In decision 14/34, the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 14) to the CBD adopted a preparatory process for the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, and requested the Executive Secretary to facilitate its implementation. The process includes organization of regional consultations to ensure a harmonized approach to the preparation of recommendations for the new framework and facilitate further discussions of its components at the meetings of the Open-ended Intersessional Working Group on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
