The League of Arab States and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) are jointly organizing the Regional Consultation on Climate Change for the 2019 Arab Forum on Sustainable Development and 2019 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The meeting aims to consolidate regional views on climate change issues and priorities facing the Arab region, and is expected to result in a joint regional outcome statement on water-related issues that will be delivered to the Arab Forum on Sustainable Development (AFSD), taking place from 9-11 April 2019 in Beirut, Lebanon, that will also support Arab States in their preparations for the HLPF.

The consultation is organized within the framework of activities conducted by the ESCWA Arab Centre for Climate Change Policies, with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
