The preparatory meeting of experts for the high-level midterm review of the Istanbul Programme of Action (IPoA) will consider the zero draft of the outcome document for the review, as well as undertake: substantive preparations for the midterm review; a survey of progress made in the preparatory process for the review and its organization; and a comprehensive appraisal of implementation of the IPoA by the least developed countries (LDCs) and their development partners. It will also identify effective international and domestic policies based on the appraisal's outcome, reaffirm the commitment to addressing the special needs of LDCs and mobilize additional international support measures. The co-facilitators of the intergovernmental consultations on the midterm review are Benedicte Frankinet (Belgium) and Jean-Francis Regis Zinsou (Benin). Civil society organizations will be able to share their views during a 9 am session on 29 March. The UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (OHRLLS) is managing the preparatory process and the midterm review.
