The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (Plastic Pollution INC-1), will take place from 28 November to 2 December 2022.
This meeting is being held pursuant to the resolution adopted by the resumed fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2), which requests the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) Executive Director to convene an INC to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution.
Regional consultations will take place on 27 November.
Convening on 26 November, a hybrid Multi-stakeholder Forum will facilitate the exchange of information and gather perspectives from different stakeholders across the plastics life cycle. The key outcomes and messages from the Forum will be summarized during INC-1.
