Pacific Resilience Week

Pacific Resilience Week, convening under the theme ‘Pathways to a Resilient Pacific,’ includes a series of meetings focused on: combating the negative impacts of climate change and disasters; improving the coherence and effectiveness of humanitarian, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives in the region; and strengthening implementation of the Framework for Resilient Development in the Pacific (FRDP) endorsed in 2016 by leaders in the region to build resilience to climate change and disasters.

The week includes the following events: the Pacific Humanitarian Partnership (PHP) meeting from 2-3 October, hosted by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA); the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PCCR) held from 2-3 October, hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP); the Joint Pacific Climate Change Roundtable and Platform for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) 2017 taking place from 4-5 October, organized by the UN Office for DRR (UNISDR), the Pacific Community (SPC) and SPREP; and the meeting of the Regional Steering Committee for Building Safety and Resilience in the Pacific Project on 6 October, hosted by SPC.
