The Pacific Energy Summit, which will be convened by the EU and New Zealand with co-sponsorship from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), will provide a forum for leaders from Pacific Island Countries (PICs) to present their energy plans and targets and to seek donor and private sector support. The Summit will address investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency, with a special focus on the generation and distribution of electricity. The Summit will include an Investment Showcase, connecting Pacific countries and development partners with private sector investors and investment banks. The Summit will be preceded by a two-day meeting in Tonga, for participants to see the Tonga Energy Roadmap in action (21–22 March).
