Co-facilitators Jürg Lauber, Permanent Representative of Switzerland, and Juan José Gómez Camacho, Permanent Representative of Mexico, issued a roadmap outlining a series of informal meetings to discuss modalities, timeline, possible holding of preparatory conferences and other practicalities of the preparatory process for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. The negotiated compact will be presented at an intergovernmental conference on international migration in 2018. As part of the modalities process, informal consultations with UN Member States will take place on 5 December 2016, to discuss elements of a draft resolution on modalities for the intergovernmental negotiations on the Global Compact.
