The Local Renewables Conference on the theme, ‘Urban Transformation to a Circular Economy,’ will bring together cities, policymakers from European and national governments, businesses, and research and finance institutions for the ninth edition of the Local Renewables Series. Organized by the Cities of Freiburg and Basel, together with ICLEI Europe, the conference will showcase practical and innovative examples of how to reduce energy and resource use, and make ideal use of energy sources and other resources in the region.

The meeting will explore, inter alia: ways to ensure that global energy goals, including the Paris Agreement on climate change and the SDGs, are reached; potential of circularity of local renewables; transformation needed for cities to shift to a circular economy and ways to manage such transformation; investment and financing options; and engagement of relevant stakeholders, such as citizens, public authorities and the private sector, in the urban transformation.
