This event will launch a three-year project to support the mainstreaming of land governance across programmes and activities implemented by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and convene related meetings of the project's steering committee and the Regional Economic Commissions. Supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the project also aims to enhance the capacity of IGAD and the Land Policy Initiative (LPI) to facilitate and monitor the implementation of the African Union Declaration on Land Issues and Challenges across the Eastern Africa and the Horn region. The LPI is a joint programme of the African Union Commission (AUC), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The events will bring together about 50 participants representing the AUC, IGAD Member States and LPI partner institutions, civil society organizations, and the media.
