Latin American Workshop on Law of International Waters

Organized by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Central and South America, the Latin American Water Education and Training Network (LA-WETNet), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and universities from Chile, Colombia and Peru, the workshop aims to train professionals from environment and foreign ministries, members of parliament, and national water management institutions in themes linked to transboundary waters. The workshop will examine the importance of transboundary waters, water basin as well as management units in the regional context, the management of transboundary water courses and the impacts of climate change on international waters. The workshop will also introduce tools for action and cooperation in the regional context. The World Bank, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) founded GWP in 1996 to foster integrated water resources management (IWRM). LA-WETNet is a regional network that offers training services for integrated water management and for access to water and sanitation.
