The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on the Transboundary Effects of Industrial Accidents and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Working Group on Chemical Accidents are jointly hosting a seminar on the theme, ‘Fostering implementation of the sustainable development agenda for industrial accidents prevention, preparedness and response'. The seminar will discuss how the work of UNECE and OECD on industrial and chemical accidents prevention, preparedness and response can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the goals and priority actions of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. Participants will consider how the adoption of the SDGs and the Sendai Framework impact national policies and initiatives related to industrial accidents and discuss support needed by countries to implement global commitments on this topic, among other agenda items.
