Joint SBSTA-IPCC Special Event: Special Report on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL)

The UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will convene a special event during the Madrid Climate Change Conference to unpack the new scientific knowledge and key findings in the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Land (SRCCL) and provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on that knowledge during SBSTA 51.

The event will present the new scientific concepts and the global contribution of integrated response options to mitigation, adaptation, combating desertification and land degradation, and enhancing food security. The event may also facilitate the identification of areas of interest to policymakers that the IPCC could further develop in its sixth Assessment Report (AR6) and beyond.

The SBSTA and the IPCC are also organizing a special event on the findings of the IPCC Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC) on 5 December.
