ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2010

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference, the top policy making body of the ITU, is held every four years and sets the ITU’s policy, financial planning and strategic goals. This year’s Conference will consider various issues, including: ITU’s strategic plan and financial plan for 2012-2015; cybersecurity; and the enhanced use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in mitigating climate change and delivering emergency communication in the wake of natural disasters. In addition, the Conference will include four side event sessions featuring debates between experts from government and industry, on: roadblocks to ‘broadband inclusion for all;’ enabling a low-carbon future: the key role of ICTs to address climate change; accessible ICTs for persons with disabilities; and cybersecurity.
